CD 162 - Type II, Mold G9
Features: Reworking of CD 162 I, Mold G9 to widen wire groove and correct lettering. LYNCHBURG and MADE IN U.S.A. are re-engraved to correct errors, now with triangular edges. On front, LYNCHBURG is unusually large, presumably to cover the old lettering; on some pieces, faint traces of original backwards N is visible; Y has unusually long upper arms that makes it look like a V. On reverse, incorrect period before U is rarely visible, and then is very faint. The reworking placed MADE IN so close to the wire groove that it wore quickly from the pressure of the press; on many pieces it is indistinct. This mold was again reworked into Type III, CD 162 III, Mold G9.
Mold Number Location: On reverse centered below NO.
