CD 162 - Type I, Mold G9

Color: Lt. Green Aqua	Base Type: CDP:w

Features: On front, lettering is very crudely engraved, uneven, shallow, with rounded edges. The N is badly misshapen and backwards and URG is larger than other letters. The L logo is weaker and barely visible on some pieces. There are five large circle blot-outs beneath LYNCHBURG. On reverse, NO. 36 is unchanged from the Gayner mold, is evenly cut with triangular edges. MADE IN U.S.A. is crudely done and placed further to the left than usual; the S slants to the right and the periods are placed before the letters instead of after (see below). MADE IN was engraved so shallow and close to the wire groove that it wore quickly, and is usually barely visible if at all (see below). There are three circle blot-outs beneath MADE IN U.S.A. This mold was reworked into both Type II (CD 162 II, Mold G9) and Type III (CD 162 III, Mold G9). For comparison of the three versions, see below.
