Location

   The Lynchburg Glass Works, located at Lynchburg, Va, on the main line of three prominent railroads:-the Chesapeake & Ohio Railroad from Newport News to Cincinnati, Ohio; the Southern Railroad from Washington, D.C. to Atlanta, Ga., the Norfolk & Western Railroad from Norfolk, Va., to Toledo, Ohio.

Plant Embraces 5.072 Acres and Consists of

Office Building

Five room, two story building. Contains all necessary furniture for immediate occupancy. Equipment includes two iron safes.

Main Building

198x100 feet, two stories high. First floor

is strongly built with concrete walls; flooring; and with concrete reinforcements between and back of furnaces.

Batch House

55x45 feet, two stories high, equipped with three bins, running from ground floor, through second floor to roof, for storing soda ash, lime, and sand. A car trestle has been built to facilitate unloading direct to top of bin, Automatic batch mixer is located on second floor. Material is assembled and weighed on first floor and conveyed by machinery to batch mixer, back of furnaces.

Power House

50x37 feet, sturdy frame construction with iron siding and roof, contains boiler, compressors, and pumps.

Producer House

64x37 feet, brick construction with iron roof. Second floor reenforced with concrete, is on a direct lineage with bottom of coal dump and top of producers.

Box Shop

38x30 feet. Fully equipped with all necessary machinery, including cut-out and rip saws, for manufacturing boxes and shipping creates and cases as needed.

Ware Shed

80x48 feet. Adequately built under one roof to facilitate carting of finished ware from packing room to shed.

Oil Storage

Twenty-two thousand gallon capacity oil tank, filled direct from tank cars.

Smaller Shops

Two other well equipped shops provide ample provisions for all necessities - a Machine Shop,

completely outfitted for repairing and manufac turing moulds, and a Blacksmith Shop with all the necessary equipment.

Equipment of Plant

Two furnaces with daily capacity of 22 and 28 tons respectively. Eight rings each. Continuous gas-fired. One Beckwith Machinery Co. Automatic Batch Mixer, electric driven.

Two 66 inch by 18 feet horizontal Return Tubular Boilers, complete with feed pump and water heater.

One 12x14x12 steam-driven Duplex Air Compressor

One 14x16x14 Duplex Air Compressor, steam driven, complete with storage and regulator tanks.

One Oil Pump and Stand Pipe

Four Cox Gas Producers, all complete

One W. J. Miller 5-mould Jelly Glass Machine

One O'Neill No. 30 Automatic Bottle Blowing Machine.

Five Cox Semi-Automatic Bottle Blowing Machines. (One of these Cox Semi-Automatic Machines and the O'Neill No. 30 Machine were operated in connection with a Howard Automatic Glass Feeder.)

Two Fans, with complete cooling system.

Equipment, including Glory Holes, for operation of one tank with Hand Shops.

Five Oil-fired Annealing Lehrs, 65 feet long, having tunnels 7 feet wide.

Prescription Moulds for both hand and machines, from 1/2 to 32 ounces.

Moulds for assortments of Round, Square, Panel and Proprietary Medicine Bottles and a general line of Soda bottles, including Coca-Cola,

Fans, Box Shop, Batch Mixer and Machine Shop are operated with motors.

One 15 H. P. Generator for lighting.

Other miscellaneous equipment for making this a completely outfitted plant.
