CD 162 - Type III, Mold G1.1
Features: Retooling of CD 162 III, Mold G1 to enlarge mold number. The original mold number is no longer visible, but a new die stamped number is added on reverse between No. and 36 (see below). Otherwise the mold is identical to 162 III, Mold G1. On front, lettering often appears shallow and worn. The five blotouts beneath LYNCHBURG are rarely visible. The short vertical line to the left of L is still barely visible on some pieces, while the right one is usually too worn to be seen. On reverse, lettering also appears shallow and worn on most pieces. Some later pieces show deterioration of the mold which shows up as blotches around the skirt. For comparison of the three different versions of this mold, see CD 162 I, Mold G1. This mold was reworked again to strengthen the skirt, CD 162 III, Mold G1.2.
Mold Number Location: below and between NO. and 36.
