CD 162 - Type III, Mold G1
Features: Second reworking of CD 162 I, Mold G1 and CD 162 II, Mold G1; wire groove is reworked into Type III. On front, lettering is fairly strong with both rounded and triangular edges. The five blotouts beneath LYNCHBURG are often not visible. The short vertical line to the left of L is still barely visible on some pieces, while the right one is usually too worn to be seen. On reverse, lettering often appears worn. The original mold number is usually very weak. For comparison of the three different versions of this mold, see CD 162 I, Mold G1. This mold was retooled to enlarge the mold number, CD 162 III, Mold G1.1, and then again reworked to strengthen the skirt, CD 162 III, Mold G1.2.
Mold Number Location: below and between NO. and 36.
