CD 162 - Type I, Mold G5

Features: Front lettering is very crudely engraved, uneven, shallow, with rounded edges. The N is badly misshapen and the G is upside down. There are five large circle blot-outs beneath LYNCHBURG. On reverse, MADE IN U.S.A. is likewise crudely done; the E is grossly oversize, the S slants to the right, and the periods are placed before the letters instead of after (see below); the ends of the arms of 3 are squared off. There are three circle blot-outs beneath MADE IN U.S.A. Mold number is often very weak. This mold was reworked into Type II, Mold G5 to widen the wire groove and correct the lettering; it was reworked a second time into Type III, Mold G5 to further widen the wire groove.
