CD 154 - Type III, Mold L5

Features: Lettering is generally even and sharp with triangular edges, placed close to the base and small (6 mm). On front, the L logo is weaker with rounded edges, off center to the left; often the L in logo is indistinct. There is an area of roughness with vertical tool marks about 15mm wide above URG. On reverse, the right diagonal stroke of M is very small making it look like an N; the middle stroke of E is small and low; the two 4s are squared at the top; the first 4 is wider than the second. There is a slight unevenness in the glass (easily felt but hard to see) that encircles the skirt about 30mm from the base; there are intermittent horizontal tooling marks on the lower portion of the skirt. The mold number is die stamped, slightly recessed, and slants to the left.

Additional Information: This is the second CD 154 Lynchburg mold with this number (see CD 154 Type II, Mold L5), a rare occurrence among Lynchburgs. It is uncertain whether this is a reworking of the original Type II, Mold L5 to repair deterioration of the mold surface, a modification of another mold, or a new mold. The tooling marks on this mold suggests a reworking of a previous mold. In any case, CD 154 Type III, Mold L5 is a slightly different shape, yet seems to have replaced the original Type II Mold L5, and so carries the same mold number.
